Ashton Hills Vineyard 2007 Reserve Pinot Noir

Any trip to the Adelaide Hills should include a trip to this picturesque vineyard complete with rustic cellar door. Winemaker, Stephen George has produced a line up on Pinot Noirs that reflect the very best varietal characters and the Reserve is the prima donna.  The purple colour is the first hint of the fresh rich velvety texture of the wine to come but belies the medium bodied delicateness of the spicy cherry, game, mushroom characters.

An elegantly layered wine, and very more-ish with that texture and a length as long as an Adelaide Summer but nowhere near as hot. This wine deserves a rich Autumnal feast of duck or lamb.

Date: 14th February 2010   Price: $60  Value: $$  Drink: Now – 5 years
